There are more than 550,000 soybean farmers in the U.S.that help put soybeanoil on grocery store shelves and in products.The 73 farmer-directors of the UnitedSoybean Board (USB) oversee the investments of the soy checkoff to maximizeprofit opportunities for all U.S.soybean farmers.These volunteers invest andleverage checkoff funds to increase the value of U.S.soy meal and oil,to ensureU.S.soybean farmers and their customers have the freedom and infrastructure tooperate,and to meet the needs of U.S.soy customers.As stipulated in the federalSoybean Promotion,Research and Consumer Information Act,the USDA AgriculturalMarketing Service has oversight responsibilities for USB and the soy checkoff.
